New Political Book Endorsed by Rick Santorum Inspires Renewal of America’s Founding Ideals
Now available: The American Ideology: Taking Back our Country with the Philosophy of our Founding Fathers, by Brian Vanyo
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Sept. 11, 2012—At a time when many Americans are frustrated by the overbearing nature of federal power, U.S. Navy veteran and legal scholar Brian Vanyo shows how they can reassert their command over government in his new book, The American Ideology. Just released this week, Vanyo’s book identifies the fundamental principles that facilitated freedom in the United States, it documents the federal government’s gradual departure from those ideals, and it advocates a renewal of the founding philosophy to restore and sustain American liberty. Former U.S. Senator and 2012 presidential candidate Rick Santorum was first to endorse Vanyo’s work.
Vanyo was inspired to write The American Ideology in 2009, when federal representatives were engrossed in debate over national healthcare reform. Frustrated by their lack of regard for the Constitution’s limits on federal power, Vanyo committed himself to writing a book that would demonstrate the Constitution’s true intent and identify the dangers of departing from that design. He explained, “I wanted to showcase the philosophy that inspired the Constitution, not just to provide context for federal policy debates today, but also to demonstrate just how far we have drifted from the principles that define us as a nation and preserve our liberty. The United States was founded on certain ideals that we ignore at great peril today.”
Rick Santorum, who championed similar principles in the 2012 Republican primary, was quick to endorse Vanyo’s book. Santorum wrote, “In The American Ideology, Brian Vanyo pinpoints the fundamental values that made the United States the greatest nation in the history of the world. Anyone who cares about the future of America must read this book.”
While the message in The American Ideology may resonate with many Republicans like Santorum, Vanyo has a larger audience in mind. “I want the book to speak to every American as an objective and authoritative account of what we must do as a nation now to extend liberty into the future.”
To that end, Vanyo’s book, which synthesizes over 200 years of political and legal history, contains well over 1,000 factual citations, including:
- Numerous quotes by the Founding Fathers and the primary philosophers who influenced them, such as John Locke, Charles de Montesquieu, and William Blackstone;
- Many observations and predictions that Alexis de Tocqueville made in his book, Democracy in America; and
- Various excerpts from laws, studies, presidential speeches, and Supreme Court cases—including the Court’s 2012 decision on the legality of “Obamacare.”
The American Ideology aims to show the way toward lasting liberty. It is now available at retailers online.
